Coming from the original myWOD app
If you used the original myWOD app, your workouts are most likely still on your phone. This page shows how to move them into the current myWOD. It takes about 15 minutes and you do not need your old login.
The original myWOD app was made by a different company and is no longer updated, which is why it may now open to a gray or blank screen. The current myWOD is a separate app from JL Xtreme Investments LLC. It can read the old app's data file. I'm Joseph, I run myWOD, and I'll help you if you get stuck (contact details are at the bottom).
- Restoring replaces everything on the phone, and it does not ask first. When you pick the old file, myWOD erases what is in it now and loads the old data. If you have already logged workouts in the current myWOD, save a backup first (More, then Local Backup, then Send Backup) or email me before you restore. Use only the database that came from the original myWOD app. A file from somewhere else can leave the app empty.
- The old file's weights are not converted. They are labelled with the unit your phone is set to when you load the file, so a lift logged as 235 lb can show as 518 if the phone was set to kilograms. Set Units to the unit you used in the old app before you load the file. The steps below tell you when.
Before you start
- Keep the old app on your phone. Do not delete it. If you removed it with Offload App, that is fine as long as it is still in your list of apps.
- You need a computer (Mac or Windows) and a charging cable to reach the old app's file. The current myWOD must already be installed.
- You do not need your old myWOD login. The old login service no longer exists, and the file on your phone does not depend on it.
Step 1: Copy the old data file to your computer (iPhone)
The old app stores everything in one file named mywod.data. You copy it off the phone like a file on a USB drive.
On a Mac
- Plug your iPhone into the Mac. Unlock the phone and tap Trust This Computer if it asks.
- Open Finder and click your iPhone in the left sidebar.
- Click the Files tab. Find myWOD in the list and open it.
- Drag
mywod.datato your Desktop.

On Windows
- Open the Microsoft Store, search for Apple Devices, and install it. It is a small download from Apple.
- Plug in your iPhone. Unlock it and tap Trust when it asks. The first time, Windows may need a minute or two to set up the iPhone driver.
- Open Apple Devices, choose your iPhone, and go to File Sharing. Pick myWOD.
- Drag
mywod.datato your desktop. Drag and drop; do not right-click it, because the right-click menu offers to delete the file.
If it shows an error the first time, press the Sync button and try the drag again. If the iPhone is not recognized, unplug it, restart the phone and reconnect. Video of these steps: Extracting old myWOD data using Windows.
Step 2: Get the file onto the phone you will use
Put mywod.data in a cloud folder you can open from the phone, such as iCloud Drive, Google Drive or OneDrive. Wait until it finishes syncing, then check that it shows up in the Files app on the phone. Emailing the file to yourself also works. If you are using the same phone, this is the phone you plugged in.
Step 3: Load it into the current myWOD
First set Units. Decide which unit the old app used, pounds or kilograms. Set the current myWOD to that unit before you load the file (details in each option below).
Option A: a fresh install of the current myWOD
- Open myWOD. On the first screen, Are you a new user?, tap No.
- It shows a reminder to set your units before importing. Tap Set Units, choose the unit the old app used, then come back and tap Continue to Import.
- Pick
mywod.datafrom your cloud folder or Files app. - Wait for the message Fetched successfully. Do not close the app while it works.
This first screen only appears once. If you do not see it, use Option B.
Option B: myWOD is already set up
- Go to More, then Units (near the top), and choose the unit the old app used.
- If the app already holds workouts you want to keep, go to More, Local Backup, Send Backup first.
- Go to More, Local Backup, Restore Database, and pick
mywod.data. - Wait for the message Fetched successfully.
On some phones the first-launch popup says to go to "the settings screen" and tap Restore Database. That means More, then Local Backup. I'm fixing that wording.
Step 4: Check your data
- Open a few old workouts and a few lifts. Check that the dates and weights look right.
- If the weights are in the wrong unit and you have not logged anything new since: set Units to the unit the old app used and load the same file again. That normally relabels them. If you have already logged new workouts, do not load the file again, because that erases them. Email me instead.
- Keep the old app on the phone until you are happy with the result.
- Loading the file does not need a subscription. Browsing your Workouts and Movements tabs does today. The More, Athlete, Benchmarks and Timer tabs work without one.
If your situation is different
- The old app shows a gray or blank screen. That is normal and it does not mean the data is gone. Use Step 1 to take the file out.
- You have a new phone. The old app's data stays on the phone it ran on. If you still have the old phone, do Step 1 on it. If you only have a backup of the old phone (iCloud or a computer backup), myWOD cannot read that backup directly. Email me and I will walk you through your options.
- Your iPhone does not show up on the computer, or the Files list has no myWOD. Try another cable, unlock the phone, and restart both. If it still does not show, email me.
- You have no computer. iPhone does not let any app reach another app's files directly, so I cannot do this on the phone alone. Borrow a Mac or Windows PC for ten minutes, or email me.
- The old iPhone app still opens and has its own Export (email or Dropbox). That can produce the file without a computer, but the steps differ between versions and email export needs the Mail app set up on the phone. If it works, load the file as in Step 3. If it stalls, use Step 1 instead, or email me.
- The old app was on Android. Email me. Please attach the old app's database file if you can find one, and tell me your phone model. I can only help with files that still exist.
What cannot be recovered
The old app saved your workouts on the phone only. Its account service was shut down years ago, so there is nothing online to restore from. If the old app was deleted and no phone or computer backup that contains it exists, if the phone was lost or wiped, then the data is gone and I cannot get it back. I'm sorry. If you are not sure whether you still have it, check before you delete anything and email me.
Protect your data from now on
Once your history is in the current myWOD, turn on a backup so you never have to do this again: More, Cloud Account, sign in, then tap myWOD Cloud (needs an active subscription). You can also use More, Local Backup, then iCloud (iPhone) or Google Drive. See the support page for details.
Still stuck?
Email me at info@mywodapp.com. Tell me whether you have an iPhone or Android, what you see on the screen, and which step you are on. A screenshot helps. I read these myself.
